Rubi’s Choice has given trainer Greg Eurell another reason to hold Redasun’s progeny in high regard after her win in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield.

The filly became the third winner from five runners out of Redasun to be trained by Eurell, continuing an impressive family record.

Starting at $26, Rubi’s Choice proved too strong for I Am Aria and Gin Twist, scoring by three-quarters of a length in the 1000-metre contest.

Despite the breakthrough victory, Rubi’s Choice is not currently nominated for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes, with connections required to pay a $55,000 late entry fee if they wish to press on.

“We had another two-year-old, Lincoln Square, who was a brother to this filly so it was the right decision to go back to Redasun again,” Eurell said.

“It is always tough to get a guide on these two-year-olds but what I liked with her is that she is so progressive and every time she has gone out she has been learning and progressed with it.

“She could not have led into this any better than she did and today I felt that she was super well so we thought we’d get a good guide on where she sits.”

The filly’s time of 58.38 seconds was notably faster than the colts’ division earlier in the day.

“We’ll see how she pulls up but we’ll likely go to the Blue Diamond Prelude and go from there,” Eurell said.

The Group 2 Prelude for fillies will be held at Caulfield on February 7.

Rubi’s Choice is currently a $15 chance in all-in markets for the Blue Diamond Stakes.
