Rosangela will aim to secure her first victory when she lines up in the Next Payments Handicap (1100m) at Caulfield for trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr on Saturday.
The filly, by Too Darn Hot, has had two career starts, showing promise in both. On debut, she finished fifth behind Palm Angel in the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on November 30. After a break, she returned to run second at Cranbourne over 1000m on April 24.
Kent Jnr said Rosangela had a setback after her debut which ruled her out of the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper paths, but she had returned in good shape.
“In the Merson Cooper on debut she had an issue after the run,” Kent Jnr explained.
“She came back and was very good first-up but was just out collared late by a more experienced race fit horse.
“The 1100 metres should suit her on Saturday.
“She’s a well-bred filly, being by Too Darn Hot, is very genuine and she has been working well.”
John Allen will ride Rosangela, who has drawn gate seven in a field of 11.
Stablemate Millennium Blade, also by Too Darn Hot, has been entered but is unlikely to run at Caulfield. She has drawn barrier three but is expected to make her debut in the Group 3 David Coles Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville instead.
Previously trained by Mathew Ellerton, Millennium Blade has since joined the Price and Kent Jnr stable and won a jump-out at Cranbourne in preparation. Ben Melham is booked to ride from barrier six in the 11-horse field.
