Mack Griffith believes the market has underestimated both of his runners heading into Saturday’s Randwick meeting.
Compelling Truth is the outsider in the Group 3 JRA Plate, while Crown Legend is also at double-figure odds for the Highway Handicap.
Despite the prices, Griffith feels Compelling Truth has shown enough in the past to be competitive at this level.
“He’s beaten The Instructor before and ran second to Angel Capital first-up last prep,” Griffith said.
“I was actually quite surprised when I saw the odds.
“He’s fit, healthy and always gives a good account of himself.”
Compelling Truth was spelled after his run in The Kosciuszko, but his trainer believes that effort can be overlooked.
“He had excuses that day and the way the race was run didn’t suit him at all,” he said.
“He’s much better when he can roll along and control his own tempo.”
Crown Legend will also step out after an encouraging win at Gunnedah and Griffith expects him to run well despite being overlooked in betting.
“There’s good speed in the race which should suit him,” he said.
“They’re both better chances than the odds suggest.”
Punters following the races can assess the form through leading racing betting markets.
