The Bendigo Jockey Club is entering an exciting new era after securing a landmark three-year sponsorship agreement with Ladbrokes ahead of the 2024-25 racing season, which gets underway on Friday.
The partnership will see Ladbrokes take on naming rights for Bendigo’s two biggest races – the $500,000 Group 3 Bendigo Cup (2400m) on October 29 and the $200,000 Listed Golden Mile (1600m) in the autumn.
Entain Australia Interim CEO Andrew Vouris said the company was proud to support one of Victoria’s most historic racing regions, which has produced champions such as Hyperno, Shocking and Better Loosen Up.
“Bendigo has a rich heritage and continues to be a key player in shaping Australia’s racing future. We are delighted to help the club grow its iconic races and provide greater opportunities for owners, trainers and racing fans,” Vouris said.
Ladbrokes’ latest deal extends its sponsorship footprint across Victoria, where it already enjoys partnerships with the Moonee Valley Racing Club and several other key racing organisations.
Bendigo Jockey Club CEO Paul Scullie hailed the agreement as a defining moment for the club.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with Ladbrokes in a partnership that will elevate our feature racedays to new levels,” Scullie said.
“Their backing will allow us to further enhance the race-day experience while reinforcing Bendigo’s standing as a premier country racing venue.”
The club’s first meeting of the new racing year is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, ahead of what promises to be a bumper spring program.
