Mr Brightside gearing up for international debut in Hong Kong

Lindsay Park’s Mr Brightside is preparing for his first international outing with an 800m jump-out at Flemington this Friday, as he gears up for the Champions Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin on April 27.

Trained by Ben, Will, and Jd Hayes, Mr Brightside will have another jump-out the following week before heading to Hong Kong. The Hayes brothers are excited about the trip and will consult their father, David Hayes, for advice ahead of the race.

Mr Brightside is fresh off a victory in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) in February and a second-place finish in the Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) on March 8.

Ben Hayes shared his excitement about the overseas trip, saying, “It’s something we have always wanted to do,” noting the timing is ideal with the absence of superstars like Golden Sixty and Romantic Warrior.

Plans for Mr Brightside’s spring campaign are still in the works, with the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes (1600m) and the Champions Mile at Flemington as likely targets.
