The group owning Overpass, handled by Scott Darby Syndications, gave their approval via a Wednesday vote for the England expedition.
Overpass has amassed more than $12 million in earnings and is likely headed for the Group 1 King Charles III (formerly the King’s Stand) Stakes on June 16, day one of Royal Ascot.
As Overpass joins the fray in England, up to six sprinters trained in Australia could appear at famed Royal Ascot – Joliestar, Generosity, Lady Of Camelot, Charm Stone and Asfoora.
According to trainer Chris Waller, Joliestar – victor in five Group 1 races – will chase the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Stakes (1200m) on Royal Ascot’s closing day, June 20, of the five-day meet.
Generosity from Waller’s yard targets the King Charles III Stakes on opening day, if she runs to form in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville next week.
Waller looks to secure a second King Charles III Stakes triumph at Royal Ascot, emulating Nature Strip’s renowned 2022 display.
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trainers are considering both top Royal Ascot sprint races for Lady Of Camelot, the 2024 Golden Slipper winner, subject to good results in her two Brisbane carnival lead-ups next month.
Charm Stone, with two Group 1 successes, aims to meet Joliestar at Royal Ascot pending a solid effort in the Robert Sangster Stakes.
Asfoora under Henry Dwyer won the King Charles III Stakes two years prior, came back unplaced at Royal Ascot in 2025, then took the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York and the Group 1 Prix de L’Abbaye at France’s Longchamp.
For her third Royal Ascot bid, Dwyer wintered Asfoora in England to fine-tune her preparation.
