The Galaxy contender I Am Me up for sale

A win for I Am Me in this Saturday’s Galaxy at Rosehill would deliver more than just the $580,000 winner’s purse—it would significantly enhance her value as a future broodmare.

The six-year-old mare was confirmed by Inglis on Tuesday night as an entry for this year’s prestigious Chairman’s Sale, scheduled for May 8 in Sydney.

Trained by Ciaron Maher, I Am Me is already a highly desirable prospect as a daughter of champion stallion I Am Invincible. A Group 1 victory would further elevate her profile, adding to her impressive record, which includes two Group 2 wins and two Group 1 placings.

I Am Me had a disappointing first-up run, finishing 13th in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate, but she regained form with a third-place finish in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m). The Dynamic Syndications team, who race her, are hopeful she can end her campaign on a high note.

“She’s the kind of horse every owner dreams of,” said Dynamic’s Watt.

“As a 210,000 yearling, she’s gone on to win 11 races, been placed five times at Group 1 level, and earned over 4.7 million in prizemoney. She’s been an absolute dream for everyone involved.

“The journey isn’t over yet. She still has some top-level races to compete in over the next month or two, and as an ownership group, we feel winning the $5 million The Quokka would be the perfect way to cap off her incredible story.”

The 1200m The Quokka will be held in Perth on April 26, just under two weeks before the Chairman’s Sale.

I Am Me has drawn barrier one for the 1100m Galaxy, where she will carry 57.5kg with Nash Rawiller in the saddle.

Mazu and Uncommon James, the joint topweights with 58kg, are the only horses in Saturday’s field carrying more weight than I Am Me.

I Am Me is one of three Galaxy runners for Maher, who will also be represented by the classy colt Growing Empire (56kg) and Estriella (54.5kg).

Estriella, also a daughter of I Am Invincible, has previously been announced as a Chairman’s Sale entry, alongside fellow Maher-trained mares Royal Merchant and Semana.
