Treasurethe Moment’s Cox Plate campaign is back on track, with Yulong Stud confirming the mare has returned to Matt Laurie’s stable following a brief hospital stay after a mild colic scare.
Chief Operating Officer Sam Fairgray said all signs were positive, with Laurie considering the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (2000m) at Moonee Valley on September 26 as her likely next run. That race would lead into the Group 1 Might And Power Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield before a potential showdown with stablemate Via Sistina in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) on October 25.
Initially, Treasurethe Moment was due to resume in the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), while Via Sistina was aimed at either the 7 Stakes or the Underwood Stakes. Her setback prompted a switch, with Via Sistina now confirmed to contest Saturday’s Makybe Diva Stakes before the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) on October 4.
“She’ll have an easy few days and then Matt will start to step her back up again,” Fairgray told SEN. “After the Feehan, then we’ll decide if she goes to the Might And Power with the Cox Plate still on the plan. Obviously, we’ll let her tell us and if for any reason she’s not ready for those races we’ll give her more time as there’s plenty of options.”
He added: “It was only a light bout of colic. The signs are all very positive and it would be good to see her in the Cox Plate and match up with all the best ones.”
